What is Yoga?

“99% practice and 1% theory” – Sri k. pattabhi jois

The word “Yoga” means “union” in “Sanskrit,” the language of ancient India where yoga comes from. Yoga is best known as a set of physical practices and deep relaxation. These physical practices are intended to ready the body and mind for meditation. Practice yoga helps to union body, mind and spirit. In which the state of health can manifest itself.
Yoga is a spiritual science of self-realization.
We practice our field of existence, from the physical, emotional and mental to the spiritual.

The main aspects are:
- Postures (Asana)
- Breathing exercise (Pranayama)
- Meditation (Dhyana)
- Regeneration/Relaxation (Shavasana)

Yoga exercises improve circulation, stimulate the abdominal organs, which can generally result to better health. Yoga strengthens, stretches, energizes and gives you a better sense of balance and deep relaxation.
Yoga can open your heart for harmony, peace in your mind, mental balance and concentration. It’s a stress reliever.

How to practice:
With an empty stomach, best in the morning before breakfast. Generally breathing through your nose.
If possible eyes closed to feel your body. Be kind to yourself when you practice yoga. Go slowly, especially in the beginning, and listen to your body. Do not attempt moves that are out of your skill range or dangerous without someone around to support you. If you push too hard, you probably won’t enjoy it, and you may hurt yourself. Consider attending a few yoga classes before you start practicing at home.

Cautions: Any injury (ask your doctor), illness, cold, combustion, high blood pressure and operations. (menstruation and pregnancy, only certain postures)

Zoe Miku

“GROOM YOUR BODY, RELAXE YOUR MIND AND LET YOUR SOUL SING LOVE SONGS.”
Zoe Miku

Zoe means ”Life” in New Greek and this is exactly what she wants. As life is steadily changing, she works curiously and consciously like a variable wind.
After 10 years at Waldorf School in Switzerland and 1 year in Scotland, she attended the art school in Zurich. She loves to take pictures; she paints, acts and sings. After two Swiss cinema movies she traveled through Europe and South America as a model and a commercial actress.
At the end of all curiosity, her temple or way to come full circle is and always was “body work”.

At the age of 10, she already practiced yoga the first time with her mother on the countryside. To continue her bodywork, she trained ballet such as acrobatics. She started to have regular dance performances in Switzerland. As a teenager, she started to practice Latin American dances in Zurich.
While traveling and having a wild lifestyle, she visited another yoga class and felt like coming home. To get deeper into the praxis and her interests in spirituality and philosophy, she was invited to the Yoga University in Switzerland, where she studied for 3 ½ years and graduated in teaching adults. Zoe has given classes for 5 years in the yoga temple www.serratus.ch in Zurich.
She regularly visits workshops in Switzerland and around the world to continue her study. She is inspired by; selvarajan yesudian, Ravi Ravindra, ganga puri, Aviva Keller, Ernst Lanz, Reto Zbinden, Claudia Eva Reinig, Rodolphe Milliat, Duncan Wong, Rachel Zinman and Reinhardt Gammentaler.

With her partner, Christian Breitschmid, she developed the first Swiss TV programme from 2006 to 2008 for practicing yoga. To enlarge and develop this project iYoga was finally born.

Christian Breitschmid
